Space for lies in the startup culture | #DailyBlink89
There are so many challenges while working remotely in a growing startup, especially dealing with lies and misunderstandings
Trust is like a sticker, once it removed, It may stick again BUT not as strong as when first applied. I was always tried my best to build a culture where things will be brutally honest even though it might hurt someone because we never how the future will shape with a lie. It grows manifold. It will surely come back.
Why not just completely avoid it.
How are we dealing with it?
Here’s what I have communicated regarding lies in communications.
Never ever lie. You cannot ever hide lies, even though if think you are smart and nobody will ever get to know, then it would be stupidity.
Especially when we are working remotely. It’s all come down to trust. Once it's gone. It can’t be undone.
Not every time it’s easy to get things done. We ain’t superhumans. But lying creates havoc in communication.
Just learn to communicate your inabilities better. One will understand.
But, never ever lie. It’s something, even if you know the truth, you cannot reveal it, just because it might hurt their sentiments.
It’s a request.
Also, I believe, lying indeed takes a lot of your precious time. Because it’s not just one lie. It works a chain to hide other lies and we mess up until someone figures it out.
Until you already did something that cannot be undone.
