Your culture is your brand” the famous saying from Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, which was later acquired by the tech giant Amazon for a whopping $850 million.

“Our number one priority is company culture. Our whole belief is that if you get the culture right, most of the other stuff like delivering great customer service or building a long-term enduring brand will just happen naturally on its own.”

— Tony Hsieh

“Zappos is a customer service company that just happens to sell shoes.”

-Tony Hsieh

According to HuffingtonPost, Building a brand today is very different from building a brand 50 years ago. It used to be that a few people got together in a room, decided what the brand positioning was going to be, and then spent a lot of money buying advertising telling people what their brand was. And if you were able to spend enough money, then you were able to build your brand.

It’s a very different world today. With the Internet connecting everyone together, companies are becoming more and more transparent whether they like it or not. An unhappy customer or a disgruntled employee can blog about a bad experience with a company, and the story can spread like wildfire by email or with tools like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

But at the same time, the good news is that the reverse is true as well. Great experience with a company can be read by millions of people almost instantaneously as well.

Literally, Now I jump into company social profiles rather than their websites. I love the way some of the companies have adopted this new way to connect and engage with their audience by sharing their daily activities. Sure way, it’s a fun way to gain more attention for any company.
